Exclusive Image Rights

Some photographs within the Image Atlas collection may be available for exclusive commercial or private use.

This service is intended for individuals, businesses, interior designers, publishers and organisations looking for distinctive photographic imagery that will not continue to be offered for the same agreed use elsewhere.

What can be arranged

Depending on the image and your requirements, an exclusive agreement may cover uses such as advertising, publishing, hospitality and interiors, corporate environments, branding, editorial projects or other commercial applications.

The scope of exclusivity can be tailored to suit the project, including the intended use, duration, territory, media and level of exclusivity required.

Copyright and ownership

Purchasing a photographic print does not transfer copyright or reproduction rights.

Any licence, exclusive usage agreement or transfer of rights must be agreed separately in writing. Unless copyright is specifically assigned as part of a written agreement, copyright remains with the photographer and Image Atlas.

Where a complete copyright transfer or permanent withdrawal of an image from future sale is required, this may also be considered for selected photographs and priced individually.

Pricing

There is no standard price for exclusive image rights because every request is different. Pricing will depend on factors including:

  • the photograph selected;

  • how the image will be used;

  • the length of the agreement;

  • the geographical territory;

  • whether exclusivity applies to a particular industry or to all uses;

  • whether the image must be withdrawn from future print sales;

  • whether copyright itself is being transferred.
